History of Acupuncture
The theories of acupuncture were first recorded 4,700 years ago, in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine. With the use of thin needles, acupoints or meridians are stimulated to restore balance to the flow of Qi.

Auricular Acupuncture
Another acupuncture related treatment that has gained increasing popularity in the United States is Auriculotherapy (Ear Acupuncture). Since the ear is richly supplied with blood and nerves, it contains acupoints that can affect all other parts of the body. Auricular acupuncture has been effective in the treatment of a wide range of diseases, but most noticeably for addictions (smoking, drug use, obesity, alcoholism).
Acupressure
One of the most popular and perhaps least invasive forms of acupuncture found in the United States is acupressure. In acupressure the physician uses a finger or an object to stimulate the tissue surrounding the acupoint instead of needles.
